The Center is headed by a director who receives guidance from both a Center Board and an Executive Council. The organizational structure is shown in the diagram below:
The Board is chaired by the Dean of Engineering. It consists of one representative from each full-member industrial sponsor, the Center director, and up to three additional university representatives. The Board reviews and approves broad policy decisions concerning such matters as the annual research objectives and program, the operating plan for the Center, the proposed budget for the Center, and the long-term direction and thrust of the Center.
The Executive Council consists of the Center director and three members each from the Academic Senate and from industry, all appointed by the dean of Engineering. The Executive Council reviews the overall research program of the Center, reviews in detail and approves specific research proposals within the overall program, and reviews the operating plan, budgets and expenditures for the Center.
